Location: DEKRA Process Safety, Southampton, Hampshire Salary: £19,500 - £22,300 per annum + Benefits! For over thirty years we have provided specialist services for the identification, analysis, prevention and management of fires, explosions and accidental chemical releases in the chemical and process industry.
Within the UK the company has fully equipped ISO & GLP compliant laboratory facilities on the outskirts of Southampton, in the beautiful setting of Southampton Science Park, and we are looking for an individual with the right calibre to join our friendly team.
As our Junior Laboratory Technician, you will be responsible for the following GLP specific tasks:
  • Knowledge of test Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Maintain own training record.
  • Conduct standard tests to GLP without supervision (training will be provided).
  • Perform equipment calibration, maintain calibration records and conduct test system checks.
  • Train other staff to conduct tests when competent to do so.
  • Booking out of chemicals from the laboratories and organising test items disposal.
  • Backing-up and archiving of raw experimental study data.
  • You will also be responsible for the following general responsibilities:
  • Ensuring the RT laboratory is maintained in a clean and safe condition.
  • Performing daily fridge temperature and weekly balance checks.
  • Ordering consumable items and chemicals for use in study experiments.
  • Assisting other staff to conduct testing in the RT Laboratory.
  • Ensure that you are aware of your responsibilities to uphold and enforce good health and safety practice at DEKRA UK Ltd.
  • Ensuring that personal protective equipment is maintained and kept in good condition.
In order to be successful in this role you must have:
  • GCSEs in Science, Maths, and English.
  • An interest in science and the desire to learn and develop.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Good team working skills.
