Expert organisation joins Hydrogen Europe
DEKRA embraces green hydrogen
The worldwide expert organisation DEKRA is strengthening its commitment to renewable energy. DEKRA is now a member of the Hydrogen Europe association. DEKRA will contribute its expertise as a testing, inspection, and certification (TIC) company to the industry association. By joining forces with other industry players, the aim is to promote safe and cost-effective use of climate-neutral hydrogen technologies.
The industry association Hydrogen Europe is made up of around 260 organizations and 27 national associations that work together to promote and develop applications for hydrogen as an energy source and for fuel-cell technology. DEKRA’s involvement will include sitting on many of the association’s committees. DEKRA sees hydrogen energy as a key element in meeting the Paris Agreement climate targets.
The expert knowledge of a TIC organisation like DEKRA is required across the entire hydrogen technology value chain. This encompasses net-zero power generation using wind or solar power, hydrogen production, transport via pipeline, waterway, road, or rail, safe fuel-cell usage in vehicles or systems, as well as the certification of hydrogen produced in a climate-neutral process.
This commitment dovetails with DEKRA’s ambitious 2025 sustainability strategy. DEKRA is committed to the principles of the UN Global Compact and supports the vision of a sustainable global economy. DEKRA has also joined the RE100 initiative and is committed to switching to renewable sources to meet all its electricity needs by 2050. DEKRA aims to be climate-neutral by 2025.
The expert organization DEKRA is also systematically developing its own innovative range of sustainability-related services to support customers with progressive sustainability solutions. This portfolio includes sustainability consulting and training, product sustainability, certifications, audits, carbon accounting, supply chain sustainability, sustainability standards in sport, and many other independent
